Histocompatibility is a right royal bitch. *nods* Six primary HLA factors to match for straight transfusion, getting into 17 secondaries and potentially a bunch more if the recipient or donor has ever been pregnant or rejection continues to occur within the test aliquot... er. So, yeah: good tech-speak.
As for mammals, I got it from this line:
